The book John is a great chapter to read if you wanted to know about Jesus' miracles. The Baptist named John wrote about his experiences while he was a disciple. John wrote about each miracle Jesus performed. Jesus performed his first miracle at a wedding. Jesus' mother told him there was no more wine. Jesus told the servants to fill six stone water jars up with water. He told them to draw some out of the jar and serve it. When the servants gave the cup to a man, the cup was suddenly filled with wine instead of water. Another miracle that John mentioned was when Jesus fed five thousand people. Jesus and a couple of his disciples were sitting down on the mountainside. He looked up and a huge crowd starts to emerge. Jesus asks one of his disciples how much bread and fish do they have. The disciple told him five loaves of bread and two small fish. Jesus was able to make enough food for 5,000 people with the limited food that was provided. The miracle I liked the most that was mentioned was when Jesus brought Lazarus back from the dead. I like this one the most because Lazarus was dead for 4 days until Jesus went to visit him and his sisters. Lazarus was buried in a tomb which had a big stone in front of it, the odor was so bad. Jesus told Lazarus to come forth and all of a sudden he walked out of the tomb. He still had the bandages that were wrapped around him. No one was ever able to give life besides God, but God blessed Jesus with the power to do so. God did this so that people would believe in him more.

The book Joshua is about the servant Joshua who served the Lord. After Moses died Joshua was chosen by God. He was chosen to finish Moses' job and take the Israelites to the land that was promised to their forefathers. God came to Joshua and told him it was time to take the people to their land. Joshua sent to spies to go look over all the land especially Jericho. While the spies were in the land Jericho, a prostitute named Rehab helped them. She told them that the king knew they were there. Rehab hid them up on the roof while the king came to her house, they searched her house but couldn't find the spies. Rehab told the spies that she knew that God promised that land of Jordan to them. The prostitute asked the spies if they can promise her that her entire family will be safe and they said yes. When Joshua was near Jericho, he saw a man standing in front of him. Joshua asked him if he was for them or for their enemies. Joshua realized this man was here to deliver a message from God. The man told Joshua that God told him they need to march around the city of Jericho once with all the armed men and do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets made of rams' horns in front of the ark. They did as the Lord commanded and marched around the city once a day for six days. On the seventh day, Joshua and all the men walked around the city seven times. And on the seventh time Joshua told the people to shout and once they did, The wall of Jericho collapsed. This was a miracle and everyone knew. Other kings heard about what happened and tried to partner up with each other to defeat the Israelites. Joshua ended up conquering lots of land, and he defeated 31 kings in the process. Joshua was a great servant of God.

The book Deuteronomy in the Bible mentioned the ten commandments like the book Exodus. The one commandment that I think children should try to practice is Deuteronomy 5:16 which states that you shall honor your father and mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. I was taught that you should honor your mother and father so God could give you a long lasting life. I think that is true but I think there is more thought to the verse. I think you should want to obey your parents. I mean you only get 1 mom and dad, so why wouldn't you want to respect them like you would want to be respected. I've been practicing this commandment and it has made me a better person and made me feel better about myself. By doing this I realized when I was respectful to my parents around my elders, they were impressed the way I was behaving. The way you treat your parents in front of people matter. Respecting your parents shows a huge part on showing what kind of person you are.
While reading the bible, I got interested in the second chapter. Exodus talks about how God heard the Israelites crying for help. He seen how miserable they were in Egypt. God selected a man named Moses to take all of the Israelites out of Egypt and to take them to Canaan. Moses was told to go to the king of Egypt and tell him to let the Hebrews go and if he doesn't God will unleash plagues over Egypt. The pharaoh denied God's wish so God unleashed plagues. There were 10 plagues, the first was blood, frogs, gnats, flies, livestock, boils, hail, locusts, darkness, and plague on the firstborn. Every plague God gave the pharaoh the chance to let his people go but he never did. Eventually he told Moses to take God's people out of Egypt before more Egyptians die. This was interesting to me because when I saw the movie that was about this they didn't have many of the plagues that were in the bible. Even though God is a just God, he can be an aggressive one too.

Hi, my name is Eddie and this blog will be about the way I view the bible, and the way I feel about reading it. I picked the bible to blog about because I am doing a 30-day challenge in my English  class on it. I will be reading my bible everyday for one month straight. I will be writing an essay on my challenge; however, I will be blogging as I do the challenge too. I chose to read my bible because I was raised in church, and reading the bible used to be fun for me. Reading the bible used to make me feel peaceful. I stopped reading because I lost motivation. My family always tried to convince me to read the bible more, but as I grew up I just kept loosing more focus. I hope to regain that motivation by the end of this challenge.
